Hello,I have a friend who retired from Delta and has offered his buddy passes to me. Is there a way to determine the cost of a flight with the buddy pass as well as the availability? Also, his buddy passes give the flyer the opportunity to be wait-listed into first class. Is there a way to see availability for this?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
Hello, Ask your friend who gave you the pass to look up your flight(s) for you. He can log on Delta web site and will give you a good idea when to travel, or not. He can also give you some idea of your chance of getting first class. You can call him (up to the last minute) to see where you are on the stand by list. Or you can simply look up at the gate. Your name will show on the stand-by list. I hate to disappoint you but your chance of getting first class is slim and none. Delta allows paying passengers who fly a lot of miles to stand-by for first class for little or no cost to them. I've seen many passengers who walk up to the gate agent and ask if they can "sit up front" and they are politely told that there are no more seats up front. Those who ask such questions do not want to pay any more money and are hoping to sit up there for free. But for those who fly regularly and have a lot of miles, they are often get to sit up front if there are empty seats. Next in lines are dead head crew members, then employees/family members, then buddy pass users. That's why it's a rare event to see any buddy pass up front. But we welcome them nevertheless.
