I'm planning to travel to Johannesburg with two companions in mid May. Does anyone have insight into the “payload optimization” risk, and which part of the flight (ATL-JNB or JNB-ATL) it's more likely to affect? It sure is tough to deal a variable you can't measure or assess. I can be sure to travel mid-week, at low season, etc. to minimize the risk of a flight selling out, but I have no idea how to gauge payload.I can only assume since Delta hasn't embargoed the route, there's still a pretty good chance we'll make it. If anyone would care to give me odds, I'd be interested.
